Fishing 101

The Stone supplier that Adam and Derick use has been promising them a “trip” for a couple of years but things always seem to fall through.  Adam has been using the same stone supplier for 14 years.
Lance, the supplier, Adam and Derick all love fishing so they decided they wanted to do a fishing trip.  I never minded the trip falling through because a fishing trip didn’t sound very fun.
Well these guys ended up planning a trip to Florida for two days of fishing.

We ended up flying to Florida Wednesday evening.  We arrived in Tampa about 1:00 am Thursday morning.  At 7:00 am we were off on our fishing adventure.  We ended up fishing until about 3:00pm and then we took our fish to a restaurant to have them cook it up for us to eat.  By the time we finished eating we were like zombies because we were all exhausted.  (7:00 am in Florida is 5:00 am in Utah)

We got back to the hotel, rested for a little bit, showered and then headed out for dinner.  We went to the grocery store to pick up food for snacks and lunch for Friday.  Friday morning we were back in the car at 7:00 am.  We ended up fishing until 6:00 pm.

We took some of our catch to a restaurant for them to cook up so we could eat it.  The rest of our catch we divided up between the 3 couples so we could take it home.

This was about half of what we caught on one day.
The fisher men have named this bird George.  He rides in and out on the boats as they come and go.  He leaves when they pick up speed.  He loves to greet the fisher men because he knows they will be cutting up the fish and he is going to get some.

These are donuts with a scoop cookie dough on top all covered with frosting.

Tater tots, potato chips, Mac and cheese, pork and then the toppings.

This sandwich is grilled cheese, pulled pork, and Mac and Cheese.

We found a fun restaurant that had the most unhealthy food I have ever seen.  Unhealthy typically = really tasty 😬 Honestly I didn’t like the restaurant but everyone else loved it.
Adam caught a shark.

This fish was possibly the best fish I have ever had.

This guy is poisonous so we through him back

I was reeling this guy in and a 7 foot shark swam up and grabbed it.  We battled with it for a second but the little fish couldn’t hold out and the shark escaped with the majority of my fish.

Friday nigh after a long day of fishing we drove over to the pier to look at this bridge.  They light it up in different colors but this night it was lite up in the Ukrainian colors.

While we were on the dock some guys were fishing and they ended up catching a shark.  This guys was 6-7 feet long.  It was amazing seeing them battle this guy.

We woke up at 8 am on Saturday and headed to the airport.  This was a super fast trip but it ended up being a lot more fun then I thought it would be.

This is what we returned to:

  1. David read through your blog with me and he wants to go along next time. ;) I can't believe that guy caught a 6-7 foot shark! It's crazy that it was that close to the dock. It looks like it ended up being a fun trip.

  2. It is hard to imagine that you went from swimming gear to snow. We are sure grateful for any snow we get. I bet that fresh fish is delicious.
