Big news

As soon as the department of motor vehicle opened we called and scheduled an appointment for Briggs to take his driving test for his leaners permit.  We had to wait a week and a half but Briggs was able to pass his test first try.  He is so happy to have his learners permit.

Briggs also had to tryout for Woods Cross Theater online over Zoom.  He had to say a monologue, sing a song, and perform a dance.  They had given him the dance and monologue, and the dance and then he performed a song from a broadway show.
We had to wait two days for the results but HE MADE IT.

Can’t keep us down for long

Ila went with our neighbors on Saturday to break in opening day at lagoon.  They had to schedule a reservation to go but they said it was super fun and not busy.

Briggs got a set of pickle ball paddles for his birthday so we went to the courts yesterday so he could finally use his birthday gift.  It was my first time playing pickle ball.  It was a lot of fun.

My mothers day gift

Adam strongly encouraged the boys to go buy me a mothers day gift.  So at 7:00 on Saturday night they went to the store.  The only place they could find open was the Dollar Tree.  They bought me a hand full of fake flowers, sprayed some of my perfume on it and they were so excited to give me their gift.

The real gift was when the boys grades came in this past week.  (although they needed A LOT of help I was so excited for their grades).
My kids all ended up with Straight As!!! They also got A's in their online digital literacy class.
That is a total of 22 A's this quarter.

I can't believe we were able to rescue their grades and pull this all off.  Phew!

Spring fever

Despite the homework and lawn mowing the kids were able to squeeze in some fun.
Once the snow was melted the boys started riding up the canyon on their dirt bikes.

We had all the Adams kids over for a sleepover and then they had a picnic on a the tramp.

Buddy has been running around with the kids all day.  He is such a good dog that we don't have to worry about his wondering off and he would die before he would hurt a child so he runs around with the kids and they all love bossing him around.  I was laughing when I saw all the kids hanging out on Buddys bed, and buddy didn't know where to lay down.

Ila and her friends made a last day of school party list.  They planned an all day party.  I bought them some pizza for lunch (lets be honest the pizza was bought so that I didn't have to feed them and clean up after them.  Pizza on the deck was much easier)

School projects

Well since my boys were only doing 15-30 mins max on homework each day I decided that we weren't going to waste this time and I would sign them up for an extra class online.  It would be a semester class that they would have to finish in a quarter but they had so much time on their hands that I figured they could handle the extra work.
The online school miss placed the boys applications so they ended up starting the class a month late.  Which meant they needed to finish a semester class in one month.  Now things were getting scary.
I also started receiving phone calls and emails from the boys teachers.  Surprisingly they hadn't been doing their school work.
This all started falling into place while Adam was in the hospital.  I had to start going through the boys classes and at this point they were so far behind that they threw in the towel and decided it was all over.
Well that was not acceptable so I began spending 4-5 hours with each child each day.  I am not exaggerating when I say I was spending 12-15 hours a day doing homework with kids.  I didn't even stop for lunch.  Oh, and don't forget the boys were also now in a digital literacy, computer programing class which they need to complete in one month.
Sigh.
Below is a project the Ila and I completed.  This was part of her county report.

This was one of two book reports that Ila had to do this quarter.

I almost forgot I completed my last sewing project for the ballroom team.

Our ward was asked to complete 500-600 masks for the LDS church service program.  As a member of the RS presidency I was incharge of passing out, collecting and completing 100 masks each week. I had a list of 5 women that had volenteered to help me.  Two of the 5 ended up sticking with me each week until we completed our allotted amount.  I actually had to bring in extra help from mom and Crystal on a couple of weeks because I couldn't get it all done with the homework I was doing with the kids.

Still having fun

This scheduling worked out great for my boys.  They have about 20 lawns they are cutting this summer.  They are working with one of Briggs friends, Zac Bothwell.
Briggs and Zac also spent a day building a shed for someone.

Briggs Celebrated his 15th birthday.  It was not a fun birthday.  He worked most of the day mowing lawns.

Grandpa and Grandma came by and dropped off this cute poster for Briggs.

We looked like we had a homeless community living outside in our front yards for a week.  The kids, Ila and her neighbor friends, decided to get umbrellas and towels and make forts to play in.

Quarantine

When it was announced we were going into quarantine I had the great vision of being able to finally do some of the projects and cleaning that I have been putting off.  The boys appeared to be getting their work done.  Ila needed help but that only took a couple of hours so I worked on a few projects.  I made two blankets for a couple of Briggs team members in theater.

I loved spending time in the yard.

And we didn't go without great food.

Luckily and Thankfully Adam has stayed busy at work so the only time he took off was when he was in the hospital.
