Fulfilling commitments

I passed this car on the freeway a few days ago.  I kind of feel like life is like this right now.

Backing up a little, We have our yearly family reunion up in island park in a couple of weeks.  Both Michael and David reported that they would not be coming.  Neither of them have ever come to these yearly family get togethers.  It's hard not being able to see family, especially our nieces and nephew who are going up and don't know us.
After a little discussion Justin, Crystal, Mom and Dad had all agreed to help make it possible to get Lisa, Addy, Mika, and Max here for the get together.
Adam and I called and talked to Mike and Diana and then I hit up David.  Max will be flying up next week and staying with us for just over a week.  I will be flying down to Texas and bringing back the girls to spend 2 weeks with us.
We have been getting excited for the visit but it hit me the other day that my house is no where near ready for company.  We are still drying out carpet.

After some discussion and negotiations we decided to give Briggs and Avram each their own rooms.  The only way to give them each their own rooms is for me to give up my craft room.  ðŸ˜•
So this week I moved all my craft stuff and helped Briggs get moved in.
Tank is good with the move.

Back and Forth

We returned from island park for two days before going back.  We got some Quentin time while we were home.

My best friend Lisa (whose husband passed away 7 years ago) has been struggling in a second marriage.  She and her husband decided to separate and she was moving so I was able to go help her move stuff for a couple of days.  We were able to catch up and I talked her into coming to island park.

She came and brought 4 of her 6 children along.
Her kids have really struggled with their step dad.  He doesn't have much patience for them.  Lisas kids adored Adam.  It was touching and yet hard seeing how they each have struggled with the loss of Lisas husband and their biological father.

We took them to Yellow stone and did a lot of dirt bike riding.

By the time this week was over I had decided I would stay in island park one extra day, just with Ila.  I was ready to crash after such a hectic summer.  About 20 mins after I had made that decision Briggs called to inform me that our basement had flooded.
We may have set a record in the fastest cleaning, pack up and leaving the cabin.
Sigh,  sprinkler problem....

Summer = Island Park

The day after we got home from girls camp we were off to Island Park.  Slocums had asked us about a month earlier if we would join them for father's day in island park.

One week and off to Camp

We had one week between youth conference and Girls camp.  For girls camp we went to Bear Lake.  All the girls camped in the backyard of an air b&b.
Again a really fun but exhausting week.

Summer Vacation

The first week of summer vacation has set the tone for this summer.  We had youth conference.  As an advisor in the YW I get the blessing of joining the youth for all these fun activities.

Youth conference was done around our area this year so we didn't have to worry about camping.  We did the following activities:

Shot gun shooting/ Bow and arrow shooting

Laser Tag

Bountiful Museum

Movie theater for the movie "Escape from Germany" Along with videos of each of our full time ward missionaries sharing their testimonies to the youth

Bountiful Temple, Ogden temple, Brigham City Temple (completing more than 450 baptisms and confirmations)

Crystal Hot springs

Fugitive

Devotional

Park Games

BYU- basketball gym, locker room, creamery, museum

Testimony meeting

I must be getting old because this was exhausting!  But fun.

Hobbies

Mom and I went to the quilting show again this year.  It never ceases to amazing me seeing this talent. Seeing these thing makes me super excited to get home and start on some projects.  Unfortunately I need to figure out how to squeeze this into limited time.

Thankful for Healthy Bodies

Ila was struggling with allergies this spring.  The weather was so sporadic that one we she would have allergies and the next week we were shoveling snow.  I think this ended up causing some complications and Ila ended getting pneumonia.
I can't believe how much mediation she had to take.
The timing was a little rough for school work. but great for a kid that doesn't like school. She missed the last week of "work" at school.  By the time she returned, it was all fun and games.
