When we originally planned the trip we didn't realize there was an eclipse. When we found out about the Eclipse we decided to make adjustments to our plans and stay for it.
Im really glad we stayed for the eclipse. I have never seen anything like it.
There were news reports all over, on line streamers, and nasa was there broadcasting.
It was interesting listening to some of the interviews being conducted. Some of the reporters were asking about peoples beliefs on the end of the world and the meaning behind the eclipse. There were different religions there prophesying and passing out bibles.
Seeing and hearing all this I felt like I was in the "large and spacious building." I felt like I was sitting and watching Lehi's dream happen right before my eyes. I was thankful for the knowledge and understanding I have of the purpose of this life and the direction I have in my life.
Ironically Ila and I were working on memorizing the "Family Proclamation" during this trip so I think the impact of the "worldly" situation was easy to separate in my mind. We were really blessed. The day was overcast and the clouds opened up just enough for us to see the eclipse happen.

Seeing an eclipse is really a humbling experience. It makes me feel so small. God is really in control.
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome that you got to see the eclipse with Mike and his family. It is pretty incredible to witness one in person.
