Newtons 3rd law of Motion

"With every action there is an equal and opposite reaction"

Just like with Newton’s law there is opposite reactions / consequences/ rewards to every decision we make.  Adam was so excited (we both were) to take Avrams friends camping.  We hadn’t ever met their parents but with the language barriers and the fact that they live in  another country that isn’t really possible.  We did put together an agenda for the “responsible adult” over each of them.  This contained our information, the agenda and verifying permission for the boys to participate in the activities we were planning on doing.  Well, it was quiet the surprise to find out that Jr’s signed paper wasn’t from his dad and his dad actually had no clue he was in Idaho.

On our way home jr asked Adam if he could live with us while he was recuperating.  Adam said of course if your dad is okay with it.  Jr was the “mediator” between his dad and us until eventually Adam and I thought things weren’t adding up.  Sunday morning we decided to just head over to Jr’s house and figure out a way to communicate with his dad.  When we arrived we not only learned he spoke a lot more English then we were told (not perfect English but sufficient) but we also learned that he knew nothing about the trip or Jr’s injury and we had a surgery scheduled for jr the next morning.

I can’t tell you how things went with jr and his dad after we left. I would assume things got ugly.

We did learn that Jr. didn't have any health insurance, his father did not make enough money to pay for the surgery and we didn't want to risk the possibility of anyone giving him the idea of law suit to pay for the medical bills so we told him we would take care of the medical bills.  He was actually very kind and extremely grateful.  The "step mom/wife" that is from here was the only one that made us nervous about getting creative.  We asked him if he wanted Jr to stay with us for his recovery and he said yes.

So the next day I was in the hospital with Jr for his surgery.  We were very blessed to have a "dad" from the football team that is an excellent orthopedic surgeon that was willing to do his part of the work for free.  So we just have to worry about the anesthesiologist and hospital bills.

The surgery was a great success and Jr started feeling better immediately.  Jr stayed with us for two weeks. We went to his follow up appointment and then he decided to go home.  I think our life style is a little too busy for his liking.

Before Jr left one of his sisters dropped off her son to be "babysat" by jr.  I guess he does a lot babysitting for his sister.  After two days and nights of babysitting we were ready to put an end to this situation but luckily it was the same time Jr. decided to head home.

My boys use to do the same thing with the dog kennel.

  1. You are a saint. The babysitting would have pushed me over the limit of charitable service.

  2. You are a SAINT, Lisa. I'm not sure I would have the courage to invite a stranger into my home, pay for his surgery, and tend for him while he recovered.
