Shrek and Donkey

Briggs' play for advance musical theater this coming year is Shrek.  After tryouts and then call backs Briggs ended up getting the role of DONKEY!  I talked with his director after the roles had been assigned to ask about how Briggs did.  She said that because he is going into 8th grade (she usually chooses 9th graders for the lead role) she wanted him to get some experience with the call backs but she wasn't expecting a lot.
Sidenote:  Because Briggs has a Mom whose and over achiever and she also has no clue about how theater works and what is expected with call backs she made Briggs practice daily, memorize the entire role and take a few private lessons for the songs.
When Briggs got to the call backs Jules, the director, said it only took a few seconds to realize Briggs was prepared and the right boy for the role.
After tryouts Briggs confessed that he was thankful for all the work (mom forced him to do) he had done and that he always wanted to be that prepared for a role before tryouts.
Im so excited for him!  He is hilarious on stage and he is perfect for the role of Donkey!
